REVOLVER. Cal. 44. S# 22121. Bbl. 8" rnd. w/ solder attached high blade front sight. 6 Shot rnd. rebated cyl. 1 Piece walnut grips. In the post Civil War years, many Army model revolvers were refurbished at Springfield Armory using mixed parts. Many of these revolvers were reissued to units in the west including the 9th & 10th Cavalry known as the famed "Buffalo Soldiers". Frame has S# 22121. Bbl. S# is 71023. Trigger guard S# is 138249 over added "U.S." stamp. Backstrap S# is 70405. Wedge S# is 2050. Cyl. has no visible S# or remaining scene. CONDITION: cleaned metal has evidence of touchup finish w/ spots of light pitting & surface corrosion. Sanded & refinished grips show heavy wear w/ dents & chips at butt. Cyl. is not always rotating properly when action is cycled. Bore is dark w/ scattered pitting & retains strong rifling.
