Custom Engraved Colt Single Action Army Revolver 1902

serial #237599, 45 Colt, 4 3/4” barrel with a very good bore which shows light oxidation and light pitting. The metal surfaces retain about 80% post-engraving silver plate. Plate remains bright, drifting only slightly to a tarnished purple hue while it is a tarnished pewter patina in others, the areas of loss are bright-polished steel and it is very difficult to discern where plate ends and steel begins. The chief remnants are within the flutes, recesses of ejector rod housing, root of triggerguard area and protected areas of the frame. The arm is engraved over all with loose open flowing simple scroll with background punch-dot shading with the Colt factory markings still remaining legible, perhaps with some scattered very light pitting here and there. The checkered carved ivory grips with accenting ebony spacers rate excellent and feature gold Rampant Colt medallions and while unmarked, fit extremely well and have been there for a very long time. The gun seems to time well and lockup is a bit loose with the half-cock rest being a bit worn but overall the gun has a lovely “Old West” look to it, the grips are very nice, and all the numbers are matching.
