COLT 1911A1 PANAMA CANAL SPECIAL EDITION .45 SEMI AUTOMATIC PISTOL W/ BOX AND CASE

Colt 1911A1 Panama Canal Special Edition semi automatic pistol with box and display case. Custom shop gun made 1978 as a commemorative honoring the completion of the Panama Canal in 1914. The right of the slide is laser engraved and gold inlaid with "They Conquered The Isthmus" on a scroll followed by gold inlay pictures Goethals, Roosevelt, Stevens and Gorgas. The United States seal is located behind the slide serrations. The left side of the slide has fine laser engraving of the panama canal lock system, while "The Panama Canal" and the "Path Between The Seas" is engraved in gold inlay. A gold inlay of the canal zone is located behind the slide serrations. Company address marked on the left side of the frame. Barrel is marked "COLT .45 AUTO/MK.IV/SERIES 70". Grips are marked "1870/1914" and "one of 250" on each panel. Factory blued finish on the metal components. Serrated trigger, while the hammer is polished. Factory metal grips with fine scroll engraving on the edges. Factory blued steel magazine. Includes matching factory wood grain cardboard/Styrofoam box with manual. Also included is a red velvet lined wood display case with key. CONDITION: Metal retains 98% of its original finish with a few handling marks. Grips are excellent with some light tarnish. Bore is shiny with crisp rifling. Looks to be unfired from the factory, Mechanically fine. Magazine is excellent. Box and case are excellent.
