Antique Folding Stock Stage Coach Blunderbuss

Underfolding Stock Blunderbuss (yes, you read that correctly!). About a 15 and a half inch barrel. These very rare folding stock blunderbusses were intended for stage coach use. This example features an octagon to round flared barrel decorated with gold damascene. Sports a carved one piece piano finish stock that folds at wrist with release button on top. Iron hardware with brass furniture and decoration. Lock is flint. Has ornate brass accents. Missing ramrod. Condition is very good. Stock has few tight stress cracks and small repair at right rear comb. Iron surfaces show an attractive patina as do the ornate brass decorations.
